"Is this recording? ...Um. Hi. This is Wirt. I'm not here right now - I-I mean, obviously, since this is a recorded message. Uh... Leave me a message and I'll get back to you, at some point."
[What Cami feels goes far beyond worried, but she’s doing her best not to let those darker emotions show. It’s a difficult thing as she watches Wirt fidget and fluster, however, his stuttering and backpedaling at a level she hadn’t seen since shortly after they met. Whatever had done this—and Cami has known from the start that something stood responsible—had done Wirt so much harm, not only to his body but also his mind.
She isn’t just worried. She’s seething, and it’s all Cami can do to keep it from showing lest Wirt blame that anger on himself.]
You’re in your room, right? [She suspects he would be. The part of Wonderland Wirt has claimed as his own, some place safe, and Cami’s already started to walk at a quick pace. The confirmation of what she’s long known only sharpens her step, as do those first apologies.]
It’s okay, Wirt. We’ll figure this out. I’m going to come to your room, and you’re going to tell me everything. [Normally Cami takes a gentler approach, but this time requires her to stand firm. Wirt had been taken advantage of, an innocent child, and Cami not only needs to help him recover from it, she needs to know who did this so they won’t have the opportunity to do it again.]
[He nods, confirming. Maybe he shouldn't be so comfortable in his room anymore, considering that it's where the deal took place, but it's still his space and he doesn't really want to get a new one. Mostly he's just relieved that Bill isn't there anymore, and he's been trying not to think about how Bill could appear there again at any time. He's pretty sure he could appear anywhere, so that doesn't matter very much. There's nowhere that's really safe from Bill, so he might as well just stay in his own bed and not move all his stuff around.
It doesn't take long for him to realize that Cami is on the move though, and that she's asking because she's doing going to come see him immediately and his stomach drops like a sinking rock. Not only that, but she seems...different, in a way he can't place. She's usually sort of careful with him in a comfortable sort of way, and hearing her be so direct with him actually takes him by surprise.
Truthfully, it's a good tactic. He had been ready to try and deter her, and insist he's fine and that she doesn't have to drop everything and come over right now, but Wirt's knee-jerk reaction to any kind of authority is usually compliance.]
I...um. Okay? I'll be...I'll be here, I guess. I-- I'll. See you soon.
[He's always so awkward about ending conversations, but he hangs up there, and that's when the panic starts to set in.]
